Overview
Cao Bang Province located in Northeast of Viet Nam, bordering Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces to the west, Bac Kan and Lang Son provinces to the south, and Guangxi (China) to the north and east. The province has mountains, forests, rivers, streams, pristine and primitive nature. The capital of Cao Bang Province is Cao Bang city.
Cao Bang city covers an area of 107.6 km2, and has 8 wards and 3 communes. The Hien River and the Mang River flow inside the city then merge into the Bang Giang River and flows to China via Ta Lung International Border Gate (Phuc Hoa District).
Being home of 124,275 people (in 2019), mostly Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao, Hoa, Ngai, San Chi, San Diu, Kinh, Thai Muong... ethnic people, the city is the hub of cultural and lifestyle diversity.
Cao Bang city is about 280 km far from Ha Noi. From Ha Noi, visitors could follow the National highway 3 (Ha Noi - Thai Nguyen Province), passing Bac Kan Province, crossing Giang, Gio and Tai Ho Sin moutain passes, reaching the city from the western; or follow the National Highway 1, passing Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Lang Son provinces, crossing Bong Lau pass, coming to the city from the south.
From the city, visitors could discovery well-known tourist attractions namely Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao Cave, Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda (Trung Khanh District), Pac Bo historic relic (Ha Quang District), Phja Oac - Phja Den National Park (Nguyen Binh District), the 1950 border victory monument campaign (Thach An District), Ta Lung International Border Gate (Phuc Hoa District) then relish Cao Bang foods such as rolled rice cakes, fried rice cakes, roasted duck... followed by deserts like khao cakes, green bean cakes, chestnuts or authentic sesame and peanuts crackers...
